Biography
ALUR : A Journey from Street Art to Canvas
My name is ALUR, and I was born in 1991 in Porto, Portugal. From an early age, I was captivated by the world of drawing and painting. Like many children, I started by sketching my favorite cartoons—Dragon Ball, Pink Panther, Rats of Mars, and Pokémon—spending countless hours immersed in the art of storytelling through visuals.
My first encounter with the world of graffiti came when I adopted the tag "REC." It was my initiation into the world of Graffiti, a space that, at the time, felt shrouded in mystery. In my city at the tme, graffiti was still a secret underground practice. Few people were engaged in it, and the art form was primarily shared through analog photos, often captured in shades of silver and black. Resources were limited—there was little money to fund the craft—but the energy and imagination in those small groups of graffiti artists created a special bond, one that fueled my passion for expression.
Although I had always dreamed of pursuing a career in Fine Arts, the path to formal education was not meant to be. Despite this, my love for graffiti never wavered, and I continued to explore it as my main form of artistic expression. Over the years, I honed my craft, experimenting with various mediums, but it wasn’t until 2019 that I made a defining choice in my life. I decided to leave behind my professional career and pursue art full-time.
That moment marked the birth of my artistic project, "ALUR." It was a leap of faith, a turning point where I finally embraced the creative path that had always been in my heart. Since then, I have dedicated myself to painting on canvas and creating works within the studio, focusing on bringing my street art influences into a new context while continuing to explore my vision.
Today, my work stands as a blend of my early graffiti roots and a deeper exploration of my artistic identity. Every piece I create reflects the journey that has brought me here—an evolution from the streets to the canvas, where I now freely explore my passion for color, form, and self-expression.
